I bought tickets months in advance through TIXR for a concert at The Railhouse in Kyle. The event listing clearly said “All Ages.” Only when the date got closer did I learn that the venue’s actual policy is 21+ unless anyone under 21 is accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. I messaged the venue directly on Facebook to clarify because I’m 21 and my boyfriend is 20. They told me that even though we are both adults, he would still need his mom or dad present to enter. He is twenty years old — not under 18. I fully understand that the venue has the right to set whatever policy they want. But this rule is completely optional under Texas law, not something required by the state or by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Most Texas music venues simply mark under-21 guests with X’s or wristbands. Requiring a parent for a 20-year-old is not standard, not necessary, and frankly, very strange for a place that hosts concerts. This policy makes no sense for a music venue and creates a frustrating, avoidable experience for customers.
