We went to juniors in the early afternoon for a quick meal before heading back to the square and the wife had the burger special D and I had the soup and sandwich lunch special with split pea soup and a Pastrami sandwich. My wife said the burger was good and the fries were actually the highlight of her meal. The burger was a little think for her liking but maybe okay for some. We think a thinner patty maybe even two thinner patties would be better but that is our opinion of course. The meat was good quality. I had the split pea and pastrami and both were very good. The pastrami was in my top 10 which I would say is very very good and the split pea would be in my top 25. It was good but was missing some heavy stock and cream flavor in my opinion. We did enjoy our meal and would go back though. We were too full for cheesecake which we wanted but just couldn’t eat. Please note they have Pepsi and not Coke products. The waiter told us they had Diet Coke but my wife knew instantly it wasn’t…if you know, you know!!
First night in NYC and came straight to Juniors off of a recommendation and it did not disappoint! I had the steak sandwich which was cooked to a great medium and seasoned well. We also had the pastrami sandwich that was tasty and had a great thousand island dressing to go with it. My boys split the chicken and ribs dish which was super tasty. We also had a crease chicken salad that had great flavor. Overall, great food at a reasonable price and good portions.
Was going to see the Bueno Vista Social Club show on 45thth street in NYC & noticed this restaurant 1/2 a block away and had plenty of time to have lunch. What a find. The food was exceptional. It reminded me of my youth in NYC and traditional Delis We ordered Matzah Ball soup to start and it was outstanding. The Matzah Balls were huge and fluffy. Of course, they had pickles, Cole slaw & beets in small dishes on the table. For the main dish we ordered Ruben Sandwiches. My wife ordered a combo of corned beef & pastrami & ordered the pastrami. They were huge and the bast we ever had. We were stuffed but could not leave without having their famous cheesecake for desert. We ordered the raspberry swirl and was unbelievably light tasty. We had small bottles of Proseco to top off our meal. The price and wait to get a table was well worth it. When we left the restaurant, the line was queuing up for our show; perfect timing.
I liked the warm setting and helpful staff. Even though I had a reservation, I still waited about 15 minutes to be seated, but the food made the delay easier to overlook. The pastrami burger was good, and the chocolate cheesecake was the best part of the meal. Overall, the experience was solid with a few small bumps.
Went to Junior's just for dessert and everything was great. We got their: - Pumpkin pie cheesecake - this is a slice from a pie that was half pumpkin pie on the bottom with a cheesecake on top. - Carrot cake cheesecake - a real, hearty carrot cake layered in between cheese cake. - Fox's U-Bet Brooklyn egg cream - old-timey chocolate soda. Service was polite, quick and accommodating. Don't sleep on Junior's famous cheese cakes and desserts!
