We came here to see Clay Street Unit in October. I had heard about the venue from another band I had seen perform in my home area so it had been on my list to visit. Tickets for this band were around $22/each. I bought them online prior to coming. We arrived in town around 6:30p, had dinner then headed over. Doors were at 7p. I think we arrived around 7:30-7:45p and there was no line. The opening band started promptly at 8p. There weren’t a lot or people in there for the start of the opening act but the place was packed by the time the show was over at 10p. Clay Street Unit came on around 9ishp. Chairs were around the perimeter of the floor - first come first served but once the floor fills up with people standing your chairs won’t be that useful because it won’t be easy to see with people. We were sitting near the cigarette machine and we had a pretty decent view the whole time. It was great for people watching too. There is a bar. We had a couple drinks. That area was pretty packed midway through the show. We parked across the street with no issues and it was free. This is a great small venue. The sound was good, the bands were high energy and the people were fun. We had a good time and would come back again.
Absolutely awesome venue! A great place to hear music and a fab spot to play a show. The on-stage sound was killer; we were able to play at a comfortable volume hear each other clearly, which allows us to enjoy the set and just make some music. Backline is thorough and as advertised (rare these days) and the staff, from sound to FOH are friendly and helpful. There’s a great greenroom upstairs for performers as well.
I saw a band called Krush there the other night. My first time there. First off, the guy at the door could not have been any nicer (Steve). The bar tenders were amazing. The band was incredible, what a great time they are.. Probably the best sounding venue I have ever been too. All that and free parking. Oh, and the history in all those photographs. just a perfect evening that was well worth the 1-1/2 hour car ride.
Saw some band called Metallica here. They were really good live performers. If they ever play here again , I'd definitely recommend checking them out.
We saw Ricky and The Rockets and it was AMAZING! I'm 19 and seeing Rick Davies perform in a intimate venue like this was too special, and thanks to The Stephen Talkhouse (who made an exception for my age under 21) I was able to see one of my idols. 💗 The employees were nice, the music was fantastic and I had a great time!
